PURPOSE: To provide a reliable doze warning device for a vehicle, which can issue a stepwise doze preventing alarm in accordance with a dropping rate of awakening.
CONSTITUTION: A doze warning device comprises a heartbeat data processing means 18 for setting a reference heart rate for a driver in accordance with a heart rate of the driver which is calculated from heartbeat processing means 13, 14, 17, a heartbeat awakening determining means 1.9 for comparing the reference heart rate with heart rates from the heartbeat processing means 13, 14, 17 so as to determine an awakening degree of the driver, a steered angle data processing means 22 for setting standard values of steering component parameters of the driver in a certain awakening condition in accordance with steered angle data, a steering awakening degree determining means 23 for comparing the standard values with the steering component parameters calculated from the steered angle data so as to determine an awakening degree of the driver, and an alarm control means 30 stepwise controlling the operation of a plurality of alarm means 26, 28, 29 which issue doze warning alarms, in accordance with the awakening degree of the driver which has been determined by the heart rate awakening means 9 and the steering awakening determining means 23.
