To provide a drain valve which is connected to a drain pipe horizontally arranged along a floor surface etc. from a refrigerator-freezer, an air conditioner for business, etc., so that drainage through a drain etc. can be smoothly performed, inhibits the intrusion of outside air, a malodor, an insect, a rat, etc., and facilitates inside cleaning such as the removal of a foreign matter.

A valve chamber 2 the upper end of which is closed with a lid member 7 and which has the inside of a lower end formed as a trap 6 is provided in the central part of a valve body 1 having an opening at one end connected to the upstream side of the drain pipe A and having an opening at the other end connected to the downstream side thereof. The valve chamber 2 except the trap 6 is divided into inflow and outflow sides by a partition plate 8 which is suspended from the lid member 7. A valve body 9, which openably and closably closes an upper end opening of the trap 6 opened on the downstream side is attached to the partition plate 8 in a vertically rotatable manner. The partition plate 8 and the valving element 9 prevent the outside air, the malodor, the insect, the rat, etc. from intruding to the upstream side. Additionally, the detachment of the lid member 7 can facilitate the inside cleaning.
