To provide a latch device for drawers having an excellent engagement function with a furniture body.
A latch claw 11 is attached to a holder part 26 provided on a base 8 constituting a drawer 2 so as to slide to the right/left and horizontally turn, and is urged in the advancing direction by a spring. When a knob is not pulled, the latch claw 11 is retained by a second association member 13 to prevent horizontal turning and allow the right/left sliding alone. When the drawer 2 is pushed in, the latch claw 11 is slid in the right/left direction to be fitted in and engaged with an engagement hole 33 of the body 1. When the knob is pulled, a restriction by the second association member 13 is released and the latch claw 11 is escaped from the engagement hole 33 and rotationally turns. When the knob is not pulled, the latch claw 11, unless sliding in the right/left, is not removed from the engagement hole 33, and the disengagement direction orthogonally crosses with the advancing direction of the drawer 2, so that the latch claw exerts a high engagement-state retaining function.
