PURPOSE: To apply working to the end surface of long size work piece by providing a head rotatably to a column.
CONSTITUTION: When the end surface working for a long size object is made, a head 3 is rotated to a column 2. At that time, a top cap 42 too is rotated to the column while being guided by a guide mechanism part 2a to position the position of a quill housed in the head to outside a base. By rotating gear parts 48 and 49, the gear is made to be elevated along a rack 43 to be stopped at a desired height position. While retaining this condition, a work piece is placed on a working bench thereon the base is placed to perform boring work. When the position of the head is returned to an original position, the head is rotated to the column. At that time, the top cap 42 having the rack too is rotated to the column 2 while being guided by the guide mechanism 2a. The rotation positioning of the top cap is made by a positioning mechanism 2b.
