To provide a packaging material using a relatively inexpensive absorption material which is easily handled and does not generate a displacement of the material in packaging food which produces a drip such as fish or meat.

In producing this packaging material, the frame part of a transparent top face film having a supporting layer and thermoplastic resin layer and the frame part of a bottom face film having a thermoplastic resin layer and a supporting layer are superimposed with the thermoplastic resin layers facing each other. A food drip absorption sheet is inserted between the top face film and the bottom face film. A part of the outer edge of the sheet is provided with a fixed end to enter the frame part and another part of the sheet is provided with a free end apart from the frame part. A part along a side containing the fixing end of the frame part is heat-sealed.
