PURPOSE: To stop a motor surely at its home position, by connecting a bypass resistance between the motor terminals in a DC motor drive circuit.
CONSTITUTION: A drive circuit of a DC motor 1 is composed of a switch 2 to start or stop the DC motor 1 and a driver IC3 to drive the DC motor. On this occasion, a bypass resistor 4 is installed to the motor terminals so that it may be connected in parallel to the DC motor 1. Thus, when the switch 2 is closed and the DC motor 1 is being driven, drive current Ii flows. In case the resistor 4 is connected between the terminals of the DC motor 1, current Ir will flow to the resistor 4 by the electromotive force of the DC motor 1 immediately after the stop of supply of the drive current Ii. This current Ir can stop the revolutions of the DC motor 1 quickly as it is consumed at the resistor 4.
