Abstract:

To provide a drive circuit of a photomultiplier tube capable of holding a stable dynode voltage, while suppressing power consumption and maintaining proper linearity of the output current, with respect to the quantity of incident light.

A PMT drive circuit 1A includes a DC current source 11, having a negative electrode 11a to be connected to a cathode K; a transistor group 12, in which drain terminals of FETs 12a-12h are connected directly to the negative electrode 11a and source terminals of the FETs 12a-12h are connected to dynodes Dy1-Dy8; and a resistor-dividing circuit 13 that applies gradient potentials Va-Vh, obtained by dividing a potential difference between a positive electrode 11b and the negative electrode 11a of the DC current source 11, with the use of resistors to gate terminals of the FETs 12a-12h; and the PMT drive circuit 1A is, further, equipped with a capacitor group 14, including a plurality of serially connected capacitors 14a-14i, in which one end and the other end are respectively connected to the negative electrode 11a and the positive electrode 11b and connection points between adjacent capacitors are connected to the respective gate terminals of the FETs 12a-12h.
