Abstract:
To reduce the size and cost of a brushless DC motor.
A snubber capacitor 13 connected in parallel with an inverter 12 is provided with the functions of a smoothing capacitor. When position detection cannot be carried out by a position detecting means 33, the inverter 12 is operated by estimating the position. Thus, even when position detection is impossible, the position can be estimated and commutation can be carried out in correspondence with the position detection. Therefore, stable operation can be performed, and the driving device for a brushless DC motor 14 can be reduced in size and cost.
