PURPOSE: To provide a driver for an immersion roll where a mechanical seal for a part through which a roll shaft passes outside a vessel is dispensed with.

CONSTITUTION: On the end part of a shaft 2a of an immersion roll in a vessel, Q 1st magnetic pole part 6 equipped with a lot of permanent magnet pieces 13 magnetized in the radial direction of the shaft on the circumference is provided. On the other hand, outside the vessel 3, a 2nd magnetic pole part 7 equipped with a lot of permanent magnet pieces 13 magnetized in the radial direction on the inner surface is directly connected to the rotating shaft of a motor 4. The magnetic pole surfaces of the permanent magnets of 1st and 2nd magnetic pole parts are made opposite to each other through a nonmagnetic material 12 of a covering part 11 and the opposite polarities are reverse or the same. When the motor 4 is rotated, an immersion roll is rotated by the attracting or repulsive force between the 1st and 2nd magnetic pole parts.
