To reduce unnecessary power consumption of a driving circuit used for a liquid crystal display device without lowering the display quality when the writing speed is fast.
A data comparing circuit 12 compares a display signal having been written one line before with a display signal to be written to a next line and an output control signal generating circuit 14 decides whether comparison results as to all signal lines are all the same. When two display signals are the same, the output control signal generating circuit 14 switches the path of an output switching circuit 15 to the side of a switch 154 to drive signal lines with a low-power-consumption D/A converter output, but when not, the circuit switches the path to the side of an amplifier circuit 151 to drive the signal lines with a normal amplifier output.
