PURPOSE: To support a transmitting wheel stably, and to prevent the reversal of a ribbon spool positively by pivotally mounting the transmitting wheel selectively driving the driven wheels of each ribbon spool to a supporter.

CONSTITUTION: When the supporter 28 is positioned at the first selective location, the transmitting wheel 27 and the driven wheel 24 engage, the revolving torque of a driving wheel 26 is transmitted to the spool 22 through an intermediate wheel 37 and the ribbon 21 is fed and driven. When the ribbon 21 is wound approximately, an operating member 33 moves in the left direction by means of a fixture 21a of a terminal section of the ribbon 21, a toggle mechanism 29 works with the movement and the supporter 28 is changed over to the second selective position instantaneously, and the transmitting wheel 27 and the driven wheel 25 engage. Friction with the supporter 28 and the reversal of the spool are prevented when the transmitting wheel 27 moves because the wheels 26, 27 move integrally together with the supporter 28 at that time.
