To enable an organic EL display driving device to cope with the secular change of a light emitting luminance, to be hardly affected by the fluctuation of a power source voltage and also to adjust the brightness of an organic element at an arbitrary brightness by comparing a current detection signal with a prescribed reference value and controlling a voltage to be applied to the organ EL element based on the output of the compared result.
A current detecting means 9 detects a current flowing through an organic EL element to covert it into a prescribe signal. A comparator means 2 compares the current detection signal obtained from the current detecting means 9 with a reference signal ref made to correspond to a prescribed light emitting luminance to output the result. A decision circuit 5 controls a current value to be applied to the organic EL element by the output from the comparator means 2. The output of the decision circuit 5 is transmitted to the power source of an organic EL display and the current is controlled to a proper current value. Thus, even when an organic EL element whose light emitting area is different from that of the organic EL element coexists in the display, the luminance of the display can be controlled by detecting and controlling the current flowing through a typical segment display element.
