To provide a driving force transmission switching mechanism for selectively driving two members by use of a single driving source, and a disc loading mechanism for a disc player using it.
The driving force transmission switching mechanism includes a drive gear member driven to rotate in response to the driving force of the driving source, and moving a first moving member when engaging the rack gear of the first moving member; a coaxial gear member comprising a first drive gear engaging the drive gear member, and a second drive gear differing in diameter from the first drive gear and coaxially integrated with the first drive gear, the coaxial gear member moving a second moving member when the second drive gear engages the rack gear of the second moving member; and an interlocking mechanism for moving one of the first and second moving members as the other of the moving members is moved. The first and second drive gears of the coaxial gear member have the same number of teeth.
