Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery for an electric vehicle which is capable of compensating for the weak points of a secondary battery or an ordinary-temperature fuel battery and meeting output requirements over a wide range from low load to high load.
SOLUTION: A direct-current power supply is composed of a power battery 2 comprised of a secondary battery and connected with a motor and an energy battery 1 comprised of a fuel battery and parallel-connected with the power battery through an energy battery control switch. The power supply is provided with a battery current/voltage controlling means that controls the energy battery control switch 7, based on the current or voltage of the power battery, the energy battery, or the motor 14 so as to keep the voltage of the direct-current power supply within a predetermined range, and a charge controlling means that charges the power battery 2 by the energy battery 1 if the charged amount of the power battery 2 is not more than a given value when a key switch 15 is off and stops charging if the charged amount exceeds the specified value.
