Abstract:
PURPOSE: To minimize an error even when impact is given to an optical disk by judging whether or not an error signal is generated in an optical pickup and imparting a driving signal having a suitable level for data reading operation regardless of the operation of the optical pickup when the error is generated.
CONSTITUTION: A driving device for a light source element is composed of a reference power data generating part 401, two driving signal generating parts 402, 403, a mode selecting part 101 and an error discriminating part 405. In the generating part 401, reading reference power data PREF-R suitable for data reading and recording reference power data PREF-W suitable for data recording are detected/outputted based on the data read out of an optical disk, in the generating parts 402, 403, the data PREF-R, PREF-W are converted to read driving signals DR-R, DR-W and outputted. A mode signal M is outputted from the selecting part 101, an error signal TE is inputted to the discriminating part 405 and a signal DR is impressed on the light source element by means of the signals M and ER.
