PURPOSE: To eliminate the bias electric charge with a simple processing circuit by equalizing the timing of the driving pulse of an image pickup element in respective fields independently of opening/closing of a chopper.

CONSTITUTION: A chopper 109 is opened/closed by a signal F1 from a driving circuit 102, and a separating signal generating circuit 111 receives a signal F2 from the circuit 102 to output control pulses SEP1 and SEP2 to separating circuits 104 and 105. Signals Q' read and Q" read pass the circuit 104 and are delayed in a delay circuit 106 by t and have phases matched to those of signals Q' read and A" read which pass the circuit 105. The signal output where the bias electric charge is eliminated is obtained at an output point S of a substracting circuit 107, and a synchronizing signal is added through an LPF to obtain a video signal.
