Abstract:
To provide a driving support device and a driving support method that can perform appropriate driving support at low cost.SOLUTION: A driving support device according to the present invention includes: a communication unit 40 that acquires statistical traffic information including an average speed and an average inter-vehicle distance of vehicles at a point in the vicinity of its own vehicle on a road on which the own vehicle travels; a driving mode determination unit 44 that, on the basis of the statistical traffic information acquired by the communication unit 40, sets driving control parameters including a speed and an inter-vehicle distance when traveling in an automatic driving mode in which traveling of the own vehicle is controlled automatically; and a vehicle control unit 46 that controls traveling of the own vehicle on the basis of the driving control parameters set by the driving mode determination unit 44 in the automatic driving mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
