To provide a drum brake device that can ensure high braking effectiveness and stability in both forward braking and reverse braking.
A shoe drive mechanism in the drum brake device is so constructed that a switch lever 32 as an input/output part to a primary shoe 3 and an input lever 34 as an input/output part to a secondary shoe 4 are swingably assembled between a pair of base plates 25 and 26 coupled together by a primary anchor pin 11, a secondary anchor pin 12 and a lever support pin 28. The pair of base plates 25 and 26 is turnably mounted on a main anchor pin 10 raised on a backing plate 9, so that they spread each brake shoe 3, 4 via each lever 32, 34 when turned on the main anchor pin 10 according to shoe operating force and turn to the return side against the shoe operating force when anchor reaction force exceeds a given multiplying factor.
