This drum type washing and drying machine includes: a rotary drum storing clothing; a motor 4 for driving the rotary drum; an outer tub 2 storing the rotary drum; a casing 1 supporting the outer tub; a water supply means for supplying water into the outer tub; a draining means for draining the water in the outer tub to the outside of the machine; and a means for blowing hot air to the clothing stored in the rotary drum, wherein the machine further includes an inclination angle varying mechanism 60 for inclining the central axis of rotation of the rotary drum to the horizontal state to vary the angle of inclination of the rotary drum, and the clothing in the rotary drum is washed, dehydrated and dried. The angle of inclination of the rotary drum in the washing and dehydrating states is set smaller than the angle of inclination in the drying state.
