To provide a drum type washing machine requiring a reduced washing time and securely performing a spin-drying process.
The drum type washing machine includes a rotary drum 1 put with laundry therein and rotationally driven by a drum driving motor 5, a water tub 3 including the rotary drum 1, and a control means 16 for controlling the rotation of the drum driving motor 5. In a spin-drying process, the rotational speed of the rotary drum 1 is raised to a first predetermined speed at which the laundry is easily stuck to the inner peripheral wall, cloth balance is judged whether the laundry is uniformly stuck on the inner peripheral wall or not. When the cloth balance is judged fine, the rotational frequency of the rotary drum 1 is controlled up to a spin-drying rotational speed, and an initial determination value in judging balance is allowed to be arbitrarily changed for quick start of the spin-drying operation to finish washing earlier.
