To provide a highly reliable drum type washing machine capable of preventing large vibration of a water tub and inhibiting vibration and noise of the product to a standard level.
The washing machine comprises a drum 6 with a center axis of rotation in the horizontal direction or inclined direction, a washing motor 7 to rotate/drive the drum 6, the water tub 4 enclosing the drum 6 and having an opening 4a for loading/taking out the clothes, a suspension 2 to elastically suspend the water tub 4, a damper 3 to flexibly support the water tub 4, a vibration sensor 16 to detect the vibration of the water tub 4, and a control part 17 to control the washing motor 7. The control part 17 sets the frequency of the spin-drying rotation of the drum 6 according to the vibration value detected by the vibration sensor 16. Accordingly, for example, by detecting the vibration of the large water tub 4 in the process of starting the spin-drying and reducing the maximum spin-drying rotational frequency, the large vibration of the water tub 4 is prevented and the vibration and noise of the washing machine body is inhibited to the prescribed level, so that the highly reliable drum type washing machine can be provided.
