To provide a drum type washing machine capable of easily solving problems, even if starting a tub washing course with laundry put therein and consequently problems occur.

This drum type washing machine 1 is provided with a drum 30 rotating around an approximately horizontal rotary shaft, a water tub 20 storing the drum 30, and an outer casing 10 storing the water tub; and washes and dries laundry put in the drum 30. The water tub 20 is provided with a vibration sensor 96 detecting the vibration. When a tub washing course is selected, a control device 80 managing the whole operation rotates the drum 30 at a tub washing rotation speed, which is set higher than the rotation speed in washing but lower than the rotation speed in spin-drying, with water put in the water tub 20 to a prescribed water level and, when the vibration sensor 96 detects abnormal vibration of the water tub 20 then, stops the rotation of the drum 30.
