Laundry is eccentrically located at the back of the drum 9 according to a backward-descending slope of the drum 9, and steam generated by a steam generator 17 is fed from the back of a water tub 2 to the interior of the drum 9 through a vent hole 16 of the rear end plate part of the drum 9. The interior of the drum 9 is fed with steam from the back of the drum 9, so that the steam is highly efficiently fed to the laundry eccentrically located at the back of the drum 9 to moisten the laundry, efficiently and sufficiently provide an effect of raising the temperature of the laundry and sufficiently improve the washing efficiency.
