To simplify a drive device to drive a rotary tub and heighten its position to reduce cost, to make assembling easier, to reduce vibration and noise, and to improve maintenance performance and manufacturing performance, and to suppress an increase in whole depth.
An outer rotor type motor 52 is equipped on this drum type washing machine as a rotation drive source of a rotary tub 33. The stator 54 of the outer rotor type motor 52 is fixed to a water tank 26 side and the rotor 53 on the end part of a reverse rotation tub 33 side on the rotary tub shaft 43. hereby, the outer rotor type motor 52 is directly connected to the rotary tub shaft 43 to rotatably drive the rotary tub 33 by the direct connection structure.
