Abstract:
To provide a dry running prevention device of a water pump capable of preventing the water pump from being raced without complicating the assembling operation of an engine with the water pump.
An engine output occurrence rate OPrate is estimated based on an engine rotational speed NE and a throttle opening θTH (S12), and it is determined whether the estimated output occurrence rate OPrate is lower than a prescribed value #OP rate or not (S14). When the output occurrence rate OPrate is equal to or lower than the prescribed value #OPrate, the water pump is determined to be raced and the operation of the engine is stopped (S18).
