Title:
DRY SURFACE TREATMENT METHOD FOR MAKING SURFACE OF POROUS MATERIAL HYDROPHILIC
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3551319
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the surface of a porous material hydrophilic through a dry surface treatment method that uses plasma under the atmospheric pressure and thereby to achieve a cost reduction resulting from eliminating a drying step and a waste liquid treatment step.
SOLUTION: This method consists in forming a polymer from a hydrophilic vinyl monomer, such as ethylene oxide and methacrylic acid, on the surface of the porous material such as a hydrophobic polyethylene film by means of plasma polymerization under the atmospheric pressure. The coating layer of the polymer is formed on the surface of the porous material, making the surface of the porous material hydrophilic.
