Abstract:
To provide a relatively small and energy-saving drying apparatus that does not discharge steam into the air, the steam being generated from an object to be dried, a high-moisture biomass, and uses evaporation heat the steam has to dry the object.SOLUTION: In a drying apparatus and drying method, a screw is rotated in a space inside a cylindrical shell to transport an object to be dried, and overheated steam is passed through a cylindrical hollow portion and a hollow portion in a screw blade to dry the object indirectly. The object is evaporated at a low temperature by putting the object in a negative-pressure chamber and heating it. The low-temperature steam is suctioned and compressed with a suction compressor to change the steam into overheated steam. The overheated steam is used to heat the negative-pressure chamber, thereby evaporating moisture in the object indirectly. In this process, because evaporation heat used when drying the object is given back as condensation heat, the drying can be performed without discharging wasted thermal energy into the outside of the drying apparatus.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
