To improve the finish of drying relating to a drying machine or a washing and drying machine.
The washing and drying machine has a rotary drum 3 for housing clothes; a motor for driving the rotary drum, a case body for supporting the rotary drum, and a cloth amount detection means for detecting the amount of the clothes housed in the rotary drum, and is provided with a means for blowing air having air volume and a wind speed for stretching the wrinkles of the clothes directly to the clothes housed in the rotary drum during a drying operation; the means for blowing the air is constituted of a blowing means, an air heating means 31 provided on the discharge side of the blowing means and a nozzle 32 provided on the downstream of the heating means, and has a control means for controlling the motor, the blowing means, the heating means and the cloth amount detection means; and the rotary drum is rotated by the motor to perform the drying operation. In the washing and drying machine, the blowing means is capable of controlling the air volume of the air in at least two stages, and the control means controls the blowing means in a prescribed pattern corresponding to the cloth amount detected in the cloth amount detection means and variably controls the air volume of the air.
