PURPOSE: To prevent wood or the like from cracking at the time of drying by sensing AE generated upon variation of a wood structure as a signal, information-processing the signal to presume crack of the wood, and heating it with temperature and moisture as operation factors.
CONSTITUTION: Various vegetable wood or the like such as log, wood material, bamboo, etc., is immersed in organic impregnant of oxyethers such as polyethy lene glycol, methyl cellosolve, etc., polyvalent alcohols, phenols, natural rubber or synthetic rubber, or combination thereof, and thermally chemically reacted. An AE sensor is mounted on the immersed wood, AE generated upon variation of wood structure is sensed as a signal, the signal is information-processed to presume crack of the wood, heat treated at 100°C or lower under normal pressure while controlling the atmosphere to eliminate crack of the wood with temperature and moisture as operation factors based on presumption information to be dried. Even in a drying step, the AE signal is observed to always grasp the advancing state on the way of drying of the wood.
