PURPOSE: To obtain a shading ombre needle punched carpet for vehicles good in appearance by kneading a polyester polymer with titanium oxide as a shading ombre material and using the resultant dull fiber.

CONSTITUTION: This dull fiber for shading ombre is obtained by kneading a polyester polymer with 0.4-1.5wt.% titanium oxide as a shading ombre material, then melt spinning the kneaded mixture and draw the formed fiber. The resultant staple dull fiber has shading ombre effects. Furthermore, this shading ombre needle punched carpet is obtained by forming a web from the dull fiber, carrying out the needle punching treatment, preparing a carpet and carrying out the stamping forming thereof into a prescribed shape. The difference in light transmittance between piles in a standing state and piles fallen by the stamping forming is small and the resultant needle punched carpet for vehicles has hardly conspicuous shading on the surface.
