To provide a dummy head, with which the lowering of quality of a cast slab can be prevented by setting the lower end part of a molten metal pouring nozzle to the same height as the ordinary casting time, even at the starting time of casting.

In this dummy head 6, a recessed part 60 is formed into which a molten metal pouring holes 7a formed at the lower end part of the molten metal pouring nozzle 7 can be inserted, on the upper surface thereof inserted into the lower part in a mold 3 at the starting time of the casting. Even at the starting time of the casting, the molten metal can be poured at the same position as the ordinary casting time, and thereby, on the way of the casting, the molten metal pouring nozzle is unnecessary to be lowerd and then, the lowering of the quality of the cast slab can be prevented.
