To solve the problem that a current flowing to a dust collecting unit becomes the total sum of current values flowing between polar plates since there is only one high voltage power supply circuit for applying a high voltage to one, two or more dust collecting units of an electric dust collecting machine conventionally, and discharge energy is large and safety can not be secured since the voltage is high and the current value is large when a person erroneously touches the dust collecting unit while the voltage is applied.
The dust collecting device comprises: insulation means A2, B2 and (n-1)2, etc., for respectively electrically insulating the polar plate sets A1, B1 and n1, etc., of the dust collecting device and making them independent; and high voltage circuit distribution means A3, B3 and n3, etc., for respectively individually applying the high voltage to the two polar plate sets which are insulated and made independent. The discharge energy at the time of erroneous contact is reduced by reducing the current value flowing to the polar plate sets A1, B1 and n1, etc., and thus the dust collecting device capable of securing the safety at the time of the erroneous contact is obtained.
