Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a dye donor element for a thermal dye transfer wherein the absorbing zone at a specified wavelength in narrow by providing a dye layer for which an image dye and an infrared absorbing substance represented by a specified general formula are blended in a binder, on a support.
CONSTITUTION: An image dye, preferably, a sublimation type dye, and an infrared absorbing substance represented by formula I (R1 to R4 are each H, an alkyl group or the like; R5 and R6 are each H, a halogen, an alkoxy group, an acyloxy group or the like; X represents Se or Te; and Y represents O, S, Se or the like) are dispersed in the aqueous solution of a hydrophilic binder such as polyvinyl alcohol, and an application liquid for a dye layer is prepared. The application liquid for the dye layer is applied and dried on a support such as a transparent plastic film, and the dye layer is laminated, and the objective dye donor element for a laser-induced thermal dye transfer is obtained. In order to obtain a dye transferred image by the obtained dye donor element, a diode laser is preferably used from the viewpoints of a low cost and stability or the like.
