To restrain coloring of the circumference part of a dye fixing element in the case of storing for a long period, by incorporating a specified compound in the dye fixing element.

The dye fixing element containing a mordant and a base and/or its precursor on at least one side of a support contains at least one kind of compound represented by the formula in which each of R1-R4 is, independently, a 1-4C alkyl group, and X is a ≤15C bivalent hydrocarbon group. The details of the mechanism of yellowing prevention by the compound of the formula are not known but it is presumed that the nitration reaction of 2,6-t-butyl-5- hydroxphenol is prevented by each compound. This compound itself is aleady known and the coloring of the circumference of the dye fixing element can be prevented by incorporating this compound in the element and executing this image forming method in this invention.
