PURPOSE: To provide a dyestuff compound which contains a single cyanine moiety covalently bonded to any one of bleachable oxonol chromophores and is morphologically preferable for cubic system silver halide crystals by using a specific red-sensitizing dyestuff compound as the dyestuff compound.
CONSTITUTION: This dyestuff compound consists of a red-sensitive sensitizing dyestuff compound represented by the formulas I or II and a silver halide emulsion layer contg. cubic system silver halide crystal grains and the dyestuff compound is supported on a substrate. In the formulas I and II: each of Z1 to Z4 is independently a group of nonmetallic atoms and a constituent necessary to completely form an optionally substituted heterocycle system contg. five- membered and/or six-membered heterocyclic nuclei; each of R and R1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or aryl group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms; L1 is an unsubstituted or alkyl-substituted methine group; L2 is a linking group that has 4 to 20 carbon atoms and contains plural alkylene groups and at least one ester group, etc.; M+ is a cation; X- is an anion or anionic group on the dyestuff compound in which an inner salt is formed.
