To provide a thrust damping mechanism for an optical deflector dynamic pressure bearing which can easily secure stability in the thrust direction of a rotary member without limiting the kind of a radial dynamic pressure bearing and makes it possible to provide a pressure reducing mechanism in combination.
The dynamic pressure support part 3 for the optical deflector 1 consists of a dynamic pressure shaft 5 and a dynamic pressure sleeve 7 which rotatably engage each other through the radial dynamic pressure bearing by a herringbone groove or other dynamic pressure generation parts; and the dynamic pressure shaft 5 is fixed on one side of a case 2 of the optical deflector and the rotary member 4 in a cantilever way, one end 7a of the dynamic pressure sleeve 7 is closed and fixed on the other side, and a shaft end chamber 16 having capacity corresponding to thrust displacement between the dynamic pressure shaft 5 and dynamic pressure sleeve 7 is formed inside them. An attenuation passage is formed passing through an attenuation member 18 having flow passage resistance suppressing abrupt variation in thrust displacement between the shaft end chamber 16 and the outside air.
