Title:
EARTHQUAKE DAMPING WALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02164984
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a wall excellent in quake-damping performance and rich in durability by constituting the wall providing a through hole to be drilled in ah opposed surface of vertically adjacent block units and fitting a pin, consisting of lead or lead alloy, to be inserted between the through holes.

CONSTITUTION: In a framework consisting of a pillar B and a beam C, a wall unit A is formed by piling in a unit vertically and horizontally a block unit 1 consisting of a concrete block, brick, stone, etc. Next the block unit 1 drills in its upper and lower surfaces through holes 2, 2, and a lead or lead alloy-made pin 3 is fitted and inserted over to each through hole arranged in an opposed surface of the vertically adjacent block units 1. And each block unit 1 provides in its joint part, for instance, a rubber joint so as to facilitate a relative movement of the block unit 1. Thus in earthquake time, a building enables its quake- damping effect to be displayed by deforming the pin 3 absorbing vibration energy.
