PURPOSE: To attain the automatic edition of an original with less capacity of a memory, by controlling the reading position of the original with a mark for correction of original representing the reading position of a shift mark or the like.

CONSTITUTION: The original 1 is read at a reading section 5 in the unit of lines and stored in line memories I , II alternately. The picture information stored in the line unit is decoded for an original correction mark at a discriminating section 7, a signal of forward/reverse drive is given to a reading pulse motor drive section 14 according to the mark and a reading pulse motor 3 and a drive roller 2 of original drive the original 1. Further, the picture information for one line's share edited is given to a line memory 8. The position of detection of the correction mark is stored separately to represent the home position. When the picture information is stored in the memory 8, the discriminating section 7 gives a signal performing the subscanning for one line's share to a recording pulse motor drive section 15, a recording pulse motor 13 and a recording paper drive roller 12 drive the recording paper 11 and the picture information stored in the memory 8 is recorded on the recording paper 11 with a recording driver 9 and a recording head 10.
