Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new 11,12-epoxyeicosatetraenoic acid and 14,15- epoxyeicosatetraenoic acid useful as a therapeutic medicine for immune disease, inflammatory disease, etc.
CONSTITUTION: 11,12-Epoxyeicosatetraenoic acid expressed by formula I and 14,15-epoxyeicosatetraenoic acid expressed by formula II. The compound expressed by formula I and formula II are obtained by reacting an eicosapentaenoic acid expressed by formula III (R is H or lower alkyl which may be replaced by F) or its derivative with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a lipase. By the above process, double bond of eicosapentaenoic acid can simply and selectively be epoxidized and the compounds expressed by formula I and formula II, respectively efficiently obtained.
