The ejection examination apparatus includes: a head that ejects a liquid form a nozzle, the head connected to ground; a detection electrode that faces the nozzle to be spaced at a predetermined interval, the detection electrode sealed by an insulating member; a power supply that sets the detection electrode to a predetermined potential; a determination portion that detects a potential change in the detection electrode due to ejection of the liquid from the nozzle and determines a nozzle, which does not normally eject the liquid, in the head based on the potential change in the detection electrode; and a cap portion that contacts the head when printing is not performed, the cap portion accommodating the detection electrode.
