PURPOSE: A chip and easily preparable EL element emitting light which sufficient luminance even by low-voltage driving, made by interposing a specified multilayer-structure light-emitting layer in between two electrode layers of which at least one is transparent.
CONSTITUTION: A light-emitting layer 2 0.01W1μm in thickness formed by laminating a first layer consisting of a (multi-ply)monomolecular film comprising a mixture of 1mol of at least one electroluminescent org. compd. 5 which is electron-accepting relative to a second layer with 1/10W1/100mol of at least one org. compd. 5' which is electron-accepting relative to the compd. and the second layer consisting of a piled molecular film comprising a mixture of 1mol of at least one electroluminescent org. compd. 6 which is electron-donating relative to the first layer which 1/10W1/100mol of at least one org. compd. 6' which is electron-donating relative to the compd. alternately to an extent of 4W400 layers, is interposed between an opaque electrode layer 3 0.1W0.3μm in thickness and a transparent electrode layer 1 0.01W0.2μm in thickness.
