In the elastic column in which a hollow core body 3 made of a resin is covered with an elastic cushioning material 4 and the external surface of the cushioning material is covered with an external facing body 2, a deflecting means for deflecting the core body 3 is mounted, and the stability is ensured without a bending by deflecting the core body while elastically deforming the core body when an external force by a collision or the like is applied to the elastic column. A slit 13 is formed partially to the core body 3 as the deflecting means. A resilient force in the specific direction is set so as to differ from other directions by the slit 13, and a bending reaction is varied in the load direction.
