PURPOSE: To lighten a car and to make its speed higher without being subject to a restriction by law, by driving said car through applying power to a primary stator in a ground primary linear motor system composed of said primary stator provided on the ground and a secondary conductor provided in the car, by eliminating cable ways and current collectors, and by providing drivers on the ground.

CONSTITUTION: When the reaction plate 2 of a car 4 passes through linear motors (primary stators) 1 successively, said car is supplied with thrust and accelerated. When said car reaches a certain distance, a central computer 8 knows the distance 15 and speed 12 of the car by information from a train detector 3 on the route and from a remote computer 10. When the car 4 reaches a point A, said central computer 8 gives an inverter apparatus 9 a command for an appropriate thrust 13 to cause the car to run at a low speed. When the car reaches a point B, the central computer 8 gives the apparatus 9 the brake command, and when the car decelerates up to a point C and reaches a point D, the driver operates a mechanical brake to stop the car completely.
