Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric discharge machine, and a method for operating the same, capable of coping with automation and mass production by reducing time (non-processing time) required for charging and discharging processing fluid, workpiece supplying and discharging (replacing) work, etc., other than electric discharge work by electrodes, and improving production efficiency.
SOLUTION: This electric discharge machine is provided with a processing tank 15 filled with processing fluid K, a workpiece carrying device 20 to supply/ discharge workpieces W to/from the processing tank 15, in-tank jigs 11 and 12 to detachably hold the workpieces W supplied into the processing tank 15, and a main shaft head 40 to hold the electrode 50d to conduct electric discharge work to the workpieces W held by the in-tank jigs 11 and 12. With the processing fluid K filled in the processing tank 15, the workpieces W are supplied, electric discharge-processed, and carried out.
