Abstract:
To provide an apparatus and a method, by which apparatus and method, a material having a high electrical resistivity, such as ceramics, can be cut off.
The electric discharge machining apparatus comprises an electrode 103 attached to a sample 101 which is an object to be machined, a wire 102, and a light source 104. The region of the sample between the electrode and the wire is machined by irradiating a light beam thereon from the light source.
