PURPOSE: To carry out a high-efficient surface treatment by continuously applying an electric discharge treatment in a space between a discharge electrode and an earth electrode respectively composed of a cylindrical conductive material coated with a ceramic insulating material in an atmosphere composed mainly of a mixture gas of helium and argon.
CONSTITUTION: In this continuous electric discharge treatment of a textile structure, a film, etc., as an object to be treated, the discharge apparatus is made up by parallely arranging a discharge electrode 1 and an earth electrode 2 respectively composed of a cylindrical conductive material coated with an insulating material of a ceramic composed mainly of aluminium oxide and having 0.5 to 2 mm thickness in the main treatment apparatus body 3 and setting the third metal electrode or a magnet substantially insulated from the power source and the earth and capable of generating a magnetic force between both the electrodes 1 and 2. An atmospheric gas composed mainly of a mixture gas of helium and argon is supplied through a gas plenum 5 into the above-mentioned apparatus body and an object 4 to be treated is subsequently introduced continuously thereto so as to apply an electric discharge treatment of ≥10watt/cm W/L per one discharge electrode when the length of the discharge electrode and the discharge power are represented respectively by (W) and (L).
