To provide a composite electric furnace and its operating method wherein incinerated ash can be processed at an operation cost lower than a conventional one as the degree of capacity reduction and non-noxiousness can be maintained for processing, and refining to provide a stabilized molten metal quality is practicable.
An electric furnace is separately constituted of a furnace body for melting and treating incinerated ash and a furnace body for refining a molten metal. One power source commonly used for two furnace bodies are provided. A low load processing period and a high load processing period are alternately set at the furnace body to avoid redundancy of the high load processing period and the low load processing period at the different furnace bodies. A power feed control device is provided to distribute a power from one power source in a specified ratio according to the load amount.
