To provide an electric golf cart capable of preventing a decrease in battery life by inhibiting overcharging of the battery.
The electric golf cart has a travelling motor driven by the battery as a power source, a generator driven by an engine for charging the battery, and a voltage detection means for detecting voltage of the battery. If the voltage detected by the voltage detection means is lower than predetermined electric potential, the generator is started in synchronization with the cart starting to travel. If the battery voltage is the predetermined electric potential or higher, starting of the generator is controlled so that the generator is not started until the voltage lower than the predetermined electric potential is detected after the start of the cart.
