Title:
CELLULOSE FIBER IMPARTED WITH SHRINK RESISTANCE AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3138756
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber imparted with excellent and durable shrink resistance by heat-treating cellulose fiber and a specific ester component having plural carboxyl groups, thereby bonding the ester to the fiber through ester bond.
CONSTITUTION: A polycarboxylic acid (preferably butanetetracarboxylic acid) is esterified with an aliphatic or alicyclic polyol, e.g. ethylene glycol, preferably polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of about 200-2,000 to obtain an ester having ≥2 carboxyl groups. The ester is impregnated in cellulose fibers and heat-treated to form an ester bond between the carboxyl group of the ester and the hydroxyl group of the cellulose fiber. The ester is bonded to the cellulose fiber through ester bond by this process to obtain a cellulose fiber free from formalin-generation and imparted with excellent and durable shrink resistance.
