PURPOSE: To minimize the electric capacity actuating the generation circuit of water volume signal, mounted on an electric iron body smoothing creases of clothes, which is placed on the stand to supply water therein.
CONSTITUTION: An electric iron device is provided with a water volume detector 19 checking the water volueme in a water tank 17 equipped in the electric body 10, a water volume signal generation circuit 40 generating signals by the out put of the water volume detector 19, a water feeder 28 driven by the output from the water volume signal generation circuit 40, and a placement detector 39 checking if the iron body 10 is placed on the stand 24. When the placement detector 39 does not detect the iron body on the stand, the water volume signal generation circuit 40 is forced not to work. As the result, the consumption of electric source 36 is reduced when the body 10 is not on the stand 24 to minimize the size and it makes easier to attach it to the iron body.
